I realize that I may lose several friends after I post this, but that's ok.
I will apologize in advance if I in anyway offend you with this post. If it makes you that upset that you feel like you should un-friend me, then maybe we are better off not being friends in the first place.

I consider myself a very open-minded person. I also consider myself to be a very tolerant person.
So you see, I tend not to judge and more importantly, I don't let people who judge get to me.

Today was the exception though, today someone got under my skin and in a very bad way.

I won't say where and I won't name names because, no, this is not about one person, it's about our society as a whole.
Anyways, let's get to the story.

Today, as I was enjoying a bite to eat and proudly wearing some PRIDE symbol on my clothing a "lady" approached me and asked me if I really supported that.
Of course I did, and I told her so.
She pried still and asked me more questions.
The conversation went a little like this:

Douche-bag Lady: "How can you support that?"
Me: " I support equality, I'm not gay, I just believe that if I have the right to marry the person I love, everyone should be able to as well."
Douche-bag Lady: "But that's not right! How can you really support that?"
Me: (Already regretting engaging) "I think about it this way. If my kids were to come and tell me they were gay, I don't want them to ever feel rejected because I didn't support them.
Douche-bag Lady: "Oh no, God forbid they turn out gay!"
Me: (Wanting to slap this person) "Being gay is not the worse thing in the world. There are worse things a person can be."
Douche-bag Lady: "Well the bible says that homosexuality is an abomination!" (Yes, she went there.)
Me: "Go ahead, school me, where does it say that?
Douche-bag Lady: (Quotes completely wrong passages that make no sense and are irrelevant."
Me: "The bible also says that we should stone adulterers and that victims of rape have to marry their attackers! We don't take that literally now do we?"

I have no idea what she said next. I was so upset, I got up and as I was walking away I said, "it is obvious we have different opinions, bye now."

I am so angry with myself. I should have known what kind of trap she was laying down for me.
Still, I engaged and allowed her to get a rise out of me.
I could have said other things as comebacks, but alas, I was caught off-guard and she took advantage.

So, I want to end this post with a message to Douche-bag Lady:

"FUCK YOU!
AND FUCK THE ALMIGHTY HORSE YOU RODE IN!"
